Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector Launches Innovative Virtual Walk-In System for Driver License and ID Services

The Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector, under the leadership of Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, is proud to announce the successful launch of a cutting-edge Virtual Walk-In System for individuals seeking driver license or identification card services without a prior appointment.

Using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and smart queuing technology, this new system allows walk-in customers to secure a virtual appointment time based on current office availability, eliminating the need to stand in long lines for hours. The system intelligently sorts and books walk-ins around pre-scheduled appointments, ensuring efficient, fair service without disrupting existing schedules.

The Virtual Walk-In system also gives customers the flexibility to go about their day or run errands while they wait for their turn to be served. Instead of physically waiting in line, customers only need to return 15 minutes before their designated appointment time to check in for their service.

Currently available at three of the four Miami-Dade Tax Collector offices, the Virtual Walk-In Service features an easy-to-use, self-service registration process. Upon arrival, customers simply scan a QR code posted at the office with their smartphone, follow the simple registration steps, and receive a virtual appointment time.

“Appointments made through the website will continue to have priority, but with this innovation, we are making sure that walk-in customers are served more efficiently and with dignity,” said Dariel Fernandez, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector. “This is part of our commitment to using technology to improve government services for everyone.”

The system also integrates advanced security protocols including geofencing and IP address monitoring to prevent multiple or fraudulent bookings, ensuring that each customer receives one appointment per visit at their selected location.

The Virtual Walk-In Service is now operational at the following Tax Collector offices:
✅ Downtown Miami Office – 200 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33128
✅ Miami Central Office – 3721 NW 7th St, Miami, FL 33126
✅ Midway Crossings Office (Suite 82C) – 7795 W Flagler St, Space 82C, Miami, FL 33144
