Minimum Qualifications

Completion of 60 semester credits to include 15 semester credits in a computer related field and one year of relevant experience are required; OR completion of a vocational or trade school program and one year of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and two years of relevant experience are required.  Relevant experience as referenced herein includes supporting, installing, configuring, maintaining and/or repair of computing devices and software, or peripheral equipment and software.  

Recruitment Notes

The Tax Collector IT Computer Technician 2 position completes technical work in the delivery, installation, setup, testing, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Employees in this classification are responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing computing devices and related peripheral equipment, providing technical support for the Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector personnel, Help Desk, software developers, and third-party vendors to ensure operational readiness for tax collection and distribution operations, as well as Driver’s License services and Auto Tag operations. The incumbent installs, configures, and troubleshoots computer hardware, including personal computers, cell phones, servers, copier\printers, controllers, and other components; installs local-area-networks including configuring network cards, cabling, routers and associated software. An employee in this classification installs, configures, and troubleshoots tax collection specialized software and applications, isolates the nature of system failures or problems utilizing diagnostic utilities and techniques to identify and correct problems, and tests the connectivity and operability of devices. Additionally, the incumbent performs necessary backing-up and restoration of files and computing devices, peripheral equipment upgrades, patches, and/or fixes. The incumbent must communicate effectively and build liaisons with business partners to facilitate and enhance the taxpayer experience of doing business with the Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector.
