Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Joins Community in Honoring Jimmy Ryce Through Street Naming Dedication
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined community leaders, residents, and family members for the street naming ceremony honoring Jimmy Ryce, ensuring that his memory and legacy will continue to be remembered for generations to come.
Jimmy Ryce’s tragic abduction and murder in 1995 forever changed South Florida and led to significant reforms aimed at protecting children and strengthening public safety. The street designation serves as a lasting tribute to his life and as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant in protecting our children and supporting efforts that keep families safe.
“While Jimmy’s life was taken far too soon, his legacy continues to inspire action and awareness,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “This dedication ensures that future generations will remember his story and the responsibility we all share in protecting our children.”
Fernandez thanked Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins for her leadership in making the designation possible and for her commitment to preserving Jimmy’s memory. He noted that honoring Jimmy Ryce is not only about remembering the past, but also about reinforcing the values of community, compassion, and responsibility.
