Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Joins City of Doral in Welcoming New Police Chief Matthew Castillo
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez joined City of Doral officials, residents, families, and members of the Doral Police Department at Doral Central Park to welcome the city’s new Chief of Police, Matthew Castillo.
The community gathering provided residents with an opportunity to meet Chief Castillo, learn more about his vision for the department, and connect directly with the officers who serve and protect Doral every day. The event reflected the importance of building trust, strengthening communication, and maintaining a close relationship between law enforcement and the community.
“Public safety is strongest when residents know the officers who serve them and feel confident that their concerns are being heard,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Events like this help build meaningful relationships and remind us that keeping our communities safe is a shared responsibility.”
Chief Castillo brings years of law enforcement experience and public service to his new position. Before his appointment in Doral, he served as Chief of Police for the City of Miami Springs, where he worked closely with residents, businesses, and local organizations.
Fernandez congratulated Chief Castillo on beginning this new chapter and expressed his confidence in the leadership and experience he brings to the Doral Police Department.
“Congratulations to Chief Matthew Castillo on this well-deserved appointment,” Fernandez said. “His commitment to public safety, community engagement, and professional service will be an important asset to the City of Doral. I look forward to continuing our partnership and working together in support of the residents we proudly serve.”
Fernandez also thanked the City of Doral and the Doral Police Department for organizing the event and creating a welcoming environment where residents could meet their new police chief and engage with members of the department.
As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, Fernandez reaffirmed his commitment to supporting law enforcement officers and strengthening partnerships that promote public safety, trust, and responsive government throughout Miami-Dade County.
