Florida City, FL – July 2, 2025.  Despite the morning’s heavy downpour, the community showed up in full force today to celebrate a historic milestone for South Dade. Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez officially inaugurated the Florida City Tax Collector Office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by residents, elected officials, and community leaders.

The Florida City branch, located at 1448 N Krome Avenue, Florida City, FL 33034, was formerly operated by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). It now becomes the fifth full-service Tax Collector Office under the administration of Dariel Fernandez. This office will provide essential services such as driver license and ID issuance, property tax payments, vehicle registration, and business tax receipt transactions—all under one roof.

“This is more than a ribbon cutting—it’s a promise to the people of South Dade,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “We are bringing government closer to the community. No longer will residents of the southernmost parts of the county have to travel far for services they deserve locally.”

Located in the heart of Florida City, this newly modernized branch reflects Fernandez’s ongoing initiative to expand services throughout the county by converting former state-run DMV offices into fully integrated, county-run Tax Collector branches.

The event saw the participation of numerous elected officials, community stakeholders, and residents, all joining in celebration of a government that works for the people and with the people.
