This October, the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office is proudly going pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, employees across all nine branch locations will be wearing pink to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and raise awareness for early detection and research.

Leading by example, Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez continues his advocacy as a Proud Ambassador of the “Men Wear Pink” Campaign, an American Cancer Society initiative that empowers community leaders to take a stand in the fight against breast cancer. Through this campaign, men across the nation wear pink and help raise critical funds that support lifesaving research, patient services, and educational programs.

“Cancer affects not just individuals, but entire families and communities,” said Tax Collector Fernandez. “By wearing pink, we’re sending a message of hope and unity to everyone fighting this disease—and reminding them that they’re not alone.”

In addition to internal awareness efforts, the Office of the Tax Collector will participate in the 2025 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer “Men Wear Pink” Walk, taking place on Saturday, October 25. This annual walk brings together thousands of participants from all walks of life—survivors, caregivers, supporters, and advocates—marching together in solidarity to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

There are many ways to show your support—even on the road! Residents can also purchase a specialty license plate that proudly displays the message “End Breast Cancer”. Proceeds from these specialty plates help fund vital programs and continue the fight toward a world free from cancer.

Together, through awareness, compassion, and collective action, we can make a meaningful difference. Let’s stand united in hope, strength, and support for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
