Statement from Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez on HB 841 Advancing the Elimination of the Yellow Sticker Following House Passage
Today marks a major milestone in modernizing Florida’s vehicle registration system. HB 841 has officially passed the Florida House Floor with a strong 93 to 17 vote, advancing the effort to eliminate the outdated yellow validation sticker and transition fully to electronic verification statewide.
This vote reflects the momentum behind commonsense government reform. Law enforcement agencies already rely on real-time electronic systems to verify registration status, making the physical sticker unnecessary. By eliminating this outdated requirement, Florida will reduce costs, streamline operations, and improve efficiency while maintaining accountability and public safety standards. Drivers will continue to have proof of registration, and electronic verification tools will remain fully accessible to law enforcement officers.
I commend Representative Tom Fabricio for his leadership and dedication in guiding this legislation through the House, and I thank the members who supported this forward-looking measure. This landslide vote demonstrates a shared commitment to practical solutions that benefit taxpayers across our state.
As HB 841 continues through the legislative process, our office remains committed to responsible modernization efforts that cut unnecessary expenses, improve customer service, and position Florida for the future. We will continue building momentum for reforms that put people first and strengthen the foundation of our state.
