Miami-Dade Tax Collector Dariel Fernández Joins Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz at Operation “Credit Bust Out” Announcement Uncovering Organized Crime in Vehicle Transactions
Miami-Dade, FL – September 29, 2025 — Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernández joined Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz today to announce the results of Operation “Credit Bust Out” during a joint press conference held in the City of Doral. This multi-agency operation led to the arrest of more than 20 individuals tied to fraudulent vehicle purchases at dealerships across South Florida.
“Trust is the foundation of public service. When a resident comes to us for help, they deserve honesty and respect. That is why we will never tolerate fraud, corruption, or schemes,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernández. “I want to thank Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and her team for their leadership and partnership. Working together, we send a clear message: public trust will be protected, and wrongdoing has no place in our County.”

Sheriff Cordero-Stutz explained that the months-long investigation uncovered a sophisticated criminal network engaged in identity theft, falsified documents, and misrepresentation. The scheme defrauded banks and dealerships, including luxury car outlets, with many of the stolen vehicles later sold to unsuspecting victims or shipped overseas. The fraud is estimated to total millions of dollars.
“I want to recognize our Tax Collector, Mr. Dariel Fernández, who has done tremendous work leading his agency,” said Sheriff Cordero-Stutz. “This criminal organization was far-reaching, and we will continue to dedicate resources and deputies to pursue these cases further. Residents of Miami-Dade County deserve a Sheriff’s Office with the tools, staffing, and commitment to deliver results like this."
Together, Tax Collector Fernández and Sheriff Cordero-Stutz reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Miami-Dade residents and ensuring that organized crime schemes preying on hardworking families are exposed and dismantled.
