In a continued effort to make government services more accessible to all residents, the Office of the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector proudly deployed its FLOW (Florida License on Wheels) mobile unit to the Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Department. This initiative aims to deliver essential services—such as driver license renewals, ID updates, and vehicle registration—directly to employees of the correctional facilities at their place of work.
The visit was initiated in response to a request from Miami-Dade Corrections, who noted that, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Florida Licensing on Wheels (FLOW) program regularly visited their facilities. However, those services had not returned post-pandemic, creating a significant gap for correctional staff who work demanding, complex shifts and often cannot access these services during regular business hours.
“Our office was contacted with an urgent request to bring these services back,” said a representative from the Tax Collector’s Office. “We are proud to step in and meet that need.”
Led by Hon. Dariel Fernandez, the Mobile Tax Collector Office served dozens of Miami-Dade Corrections employees in just a single day, helping them complete tasks that might otherwise have been delayed for weeks. The overwhelmingly positive response from staff reflects the importance of bringing public service directly to the community—even behind institutional walls.
“As your Tax Collector, I am committed to delivering government with dignity, opportunity, and accessibility,” said Fernandez. “Reintegration starts with connection—and that includes ensuring access to the documents and services that support every resident's mobility and identity.”
The Office of the Tax Collector looks forward to returning to Miami-Dade Corrections and other high-need areas across the county as part of its mobile outreach initiative.
