A historic milestone took place in Miami Beach as Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez broke ground on the first-ever Miami Beach Tax Collector Office — a full-service location that will finally bring essential government services to residents east of Biscayne Bay.

Located at 100 16th Street, the upcoming 4,000-square-foot office will include 14 customer service windows and provide every major service the Tax Collector’s Office offers. From driver licenses and identification cards to vehicle registrations, property tax payments, and business tax receipts, Miami Beach residents will soon have direct access to services without crossing the causeway.

“Miami Beach residents deserve the same convenience and efficiency available in every other part of the county,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “For years, simple tasks required long drives and wasted time. With this new office, we’re changing the way government serves people — bringing services directly into their community and making them faster, easier, and more accessible.”

Fernandez thanked Mayor Steven Meiner, Commissioner Alex Fernandez, and the City of Miami Beach for their partnership in bringing the new office to life. He also recognized State Representative Fabián Basabe for helping strengthen collaboration with state agencies, and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce for supporting efforts to expand service access throughout the city.

The groundbreaking also highlighted the team leading the construction phase. Fernandez expressed special appreciation to Oscar Morejón, President & CEO of John Bell Construction, and his team for their leadership and commitment to delivering a modern, welcoming space designed around the needs of Miami Beach residents.

The new Miami Beach Tax Collector Office is expected to open in spring 2026, becoming a cornerstone of Fernandez’s countywide strategy to expand access through new offices, mobile units, and community-centered service models.

The event was attended by Mayor Steven Meiner, Commissioner David Suarez, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Micky Steinberg, Supervisor of Elections Alina García, representatives from the offices of Commissioner Alex Fernandez and State Representative Fabián Basabe, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, community partners, and project leaders — all celebrating the beginning of a new chapter of service for Miami Beach.
