Tax Collector Fernandez Recognizes Lovett Irrigation for Its Impact on South Dade Farming

For more than four decades, Lovett Irrigation has stood as one of the families at the heart of South Dade’s agricultural community, supporting local farmers, strengthening Miami-Dade’s food supply, and helping preserve the farming traditions that define the Redland and Homestead region.
This week, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez visited their operation to learn more about the family’s history, their multigenerational approach to business, and the entrepreneurial spirit that has kept their company thriving for over 40 years. During the visit, Fernandez presented the Lovett Family with an Honorary Citation acknowledging their long-standing service, leadership, and commitment to Miami-Dade’s farming community.
“Lovett Irrigation represents the best of South Dade agriculture — a family that has built a business through hard work, integrity, and a deep understanding of our farmers,” said Tax Collector Fernandez. “Their dedication has supported generations of growers and helped sustain one of the most important agricultural regions in our county. Their story is a reminder that when families invest in their community, the entire county benefits.”
The Lovett family has earned the trust of growers across South Dade by consistently providing reliable service and building long-term relationships rooted in respect and partnership. Their work helps farmers adapt, grow, and continue the agricultural traditions that have shaped the region for generations.
Fernandez expressed his appreciation to Richard Lovett and the entire family for their decades of service and their contributions to Miami-Dade’s agricultural identity.
“Family-run businesses like Lovett Irrigation keep our agricultural heritage alive,” Fernandez added. “Their leadership nourishes our residents, supports local jobs, and strengthens the foundation of our local economy. As your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I’m proud to honor the families who help feed our county.”
