This week marks a historic milestone for the Kendall community as we officially begin the transition of the Kendall Driver License Office from state management under the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) to the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office.
Under the leadership of Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, this transition is part of a broader effort to modernize local services and bring government closer to the people. While the office is still in the process of formally transitioning, the integration is well underway—with new staff members, updated equipment, and advanced software systems being introduced to better meet the needs of our residents and enhance the customer service experience.
“This is more than a change in management—it’s about delivering better, faster, and friendlier service to the people of Kendall and beyond,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “We are deeply committed to making this transition seamless and beneficial for every customer who walks through our doors.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated team for their hard work during this critical phase, as well as to our partners at the state level for their continued support. Special appreciation to Ariel, our Kendall Branch Manager, for leading the transition on-site with excellence, and to Damien, Division Director of Motorist Services, for providing expert guidance throughout the process.
Once fully transitioned, the Kendall location will offer a full range of services under the Tax Collector’s Office, including Florida driver license and ID issuance, vehicle registrations, property tax payments, and more—all in one convenient location.
As this transformation unfolds, our goal remains clear: to create a government that truly serves its people, where and when they need it most.
