The Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector welcomed hundreds of families to its Thanksgiving Turkey Drive at the newly opened Coral Reef Tax Collector Office, marking the first major community event hosted at the new location.

Residents from across South Dade stopped by throughout the morning to pick up a turkey ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Staff and volunteers were on site assisting families, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a smooth and organized distribution.

“Thanksgiving is a moment to reflect on gratitude and community,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Hosting this event at our new Coral Reef office symbolizes the way we want to serve — closer to our residents, present in their neighborhoods, and always ready to lend a helping hand.”

The event also offered many residents their first look at the Coral Reef office, which expands access to key Tax Collector services in the South Dade region. The location will continue to support both daily operations and future community outreach programs.

The Turkey Drive was made possible with the support of Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and Grant Street Group, whose collaboration helped ensure an efficient and impactful event for families preparing for the holiday.
