MIAMI, FL — June 25, 2025. This morning, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez hosted a well-attended Cafecito Connection at La Carreta Restaurant, bringing together residents and elected officials for a warm, informal gathering centered on community conversation and public service.
Held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 8650 Bird Rd, Miami, FL, the event provided an opportunity for residents to engage directly with their local government, share ideas, voice concerns, and enjoy a classic Cuban cafecito. The event drew strong participation, including notable appearances from State Representative Omar Blanco, City of Miami Springs Councilman Fabian Perez Crespo, and Supervisor of Elections, Alina Garcia, among others.
“This is what community engagement should look like—authentic, accessible, and centered on the people we serve,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Thank you to everyone who joined us for Cafecito Connection at La Carreta. Nothing beats a good cafecito and great conversation with our Miami-Dade community.”
Throughout the event, Fernandez highlighted key efforts underway to modernize the Tax Collector’s Office, including improved driver license operations, expanded tax services, and the continued mission to put government to work for the people.
The Cafecito Connection series reflects Fernandez’s commitment to “putting people first by delivering exceptional service with accountability, innovation, and integrity.” More events are planned throughout the year to maintain open dialogue between residents and their government.
