Statement from Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez on New Statewide Rules for Third-Party Driver License Exams

Feb 06, 2026 3 mins read

As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I want to provide clear information to our community regarding the new statewide rules for driver license exams administered by Third Party Administrators (Driving Schools).

Any exam completed before February 6, 2026, in Spanish will be honored, as long as it meets all FLHSMV requirements.

Beginning February 6, all third-party exams must be taken only in English, without exceptions. If FLHSMV randomly selects a customer for a retest, it must also be completed in English, unless the appointment was scheduled before February 6 and falls within the transition period, where only Spanish will be allowed.

We are here to continue helping our community, and Driving Schools are an important partner in serving our residents. We will continue supporting small businesses and strengthening our communities every day.
