The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office today acknowledged recent federal action taken by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), within the U.S. Department of Commerce, to partially revoke export license D1343239.

The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office today acknowledged recent federal action taken by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), within the U.S. Department of Commerce, to partially revoke export license D1343239.

In its April 7, 2026 determination, BIS, acting under the Export Administration Regulations and the Export Control Reform Act of 2018, removed authorization for the export, reexport, and/or transfer of jacuzzis designated under EAR99 to Cuba. The agency concluded that the inclusion of such items is not consistent with the current foreign policy interests of the United States.

The action reflects federal enforcement efforts to ensure that export licensing remains aligned with longstanding U.S. policy, including the framework established under the Helms-Burton Act.

“No more jacuzzis for the regime. Food, medicine, and essential goods are humanitarian. Jacuzzis are not. We commend the federal government for enforcing the law and ensuring that export activity remains consistent with United States policy and the principles embodied in the Helms-Burton framework.” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez

“I want to thank President Donald J. Trump for his leadership, as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and our members of Congress including Carlos A. Giménez, Mario Díaz-Balart, and María Elvira Salazar for their continued commitment to ensuring compliance with federal law and U.S. policy toward Cuba,” added Fernandez.

The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office will continue to monitor federal actions for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. While the office does not have authority over federal export licensing or sanctions, it remains committed to maintaining open lines of communication and coordination with federal partners, including the U.S. Departments of Treasury, State, Commerce, and Homeland Security.

The office stands ready to assist, within its jurisdiction, in any way that supports lawful compliance and transparency.

The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office will continue to fulfill its responsibilities under Florida law, ensure compliance with applicable local requirements, and maintain accurate public records in a manner consistent with due process and transparency.
