The Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector has completed a countywide relief effort to support families and communities in Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. All Tax Collector offices served as official drop-off locations, allowing residents across the county to contribute essential supplies to those most affected by the storm.

Thanks to the remarkable generosity of Miami-Dade residents, the drive collected food, hygiene products, and critical emergency items. The donations were delivered to Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), ensuring the supplies reach communities in urgent need.

“This type of community response shows the heart of Miami-Dade,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Every donation made a difference, and I’m grateful to everyone who stepped forward to help. Our office is proud to support efforts that provide real and meaningful relief in moments of crisis.”

Fernandez also thanked GEM’s leadership, volunteers, and operational team for their partnership and their swift response in transporting aid to Jamaica. The collaboration reflects the shared commitment to helping families recover and rebuild after the storm.

The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office remains committed to community-focused service and to supporting relief initiatives that uplift those facing hardship, both locally and abroad.
