Miami-Dade County, FL. Aug. 13, 2025 – As thousands of students prepare to return to Miami-Dade County Public Schools tomorrow, August 14, your Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez is reminding parents, students, and drivers to prioritize safety during the busy back-to-school season.
“Our office is ready to serve the community,” said Tax Collector Fernandez. “We assist parents in processing learner’s permits for their teen drivers, issuing identification cards, and providing essential parking permits—such as Expectant Mothers Temporary Parking Permits, which allow mothers-to-be to use handicap spaces when dropping off their children, or the Stroller Parking Permits for parents traveling with toddlers.”
Fernandez emphasized the importance of safe driving and heightened awareness around school zones. “Please obey speed limits, follow traffic signs, and share the road,” he said. “Many families will be walking their children to school and may be unfamiliar with the area. Leave early, expect heavier traffic, and above all, be patient and tolerant—many lives depend on it.”
The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office remains committed to ensuring that residents have access to the services they need while promoting community safety.
