Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 60 semester credits and two years of advanced clerical experience to include customer service and personal computers experience is required; OR high school diploma or GED and one year of experience as a Tax Records Specialist is required. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Description:
A qualified candidate should possess either an associate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a minimum of five years of experience in a related legal field. They must have a strong understanding of legal terminology and legal document formatting, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. The role requires strong legal research capabilities, critical thinking, problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills, as well as the ability to read and interpret legal documents. Candidates should be able to track, monitor, and update cases in Excel, particularly for funds placed in Advance Deposit for Legal Cases. They must also be able to research court case dockets for both federal and state cases and use tax collector case management systems to locate active cases. Knowledge of subpoenas, document production, and redaction requirements is essential. In addition, basic arithmetic skills—including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—are required. The ideal candidate can multitask effectively, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple deadlines, and demonstrate strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
